Confessions of an Author Who is Behind on Her Shipping!

posted in: All Articles, Life 7

boxesYikes! The truth is, I am horribly behind on my shipping! (This article is from 2012, but still a fun read–we all get backed up on things sometimes, am I right?)

I love to give stuff away because I appreciate my readers and my fans so much! I host all sorts of online giveaways, with prizes ranging from books to tote bags, and lots more.

I used to be very on top of things. As recently as a few months ago, I shipped the things the very same day the item was won! Now? I am all backed up, with enough shipping to nearly require the rental of a U-Haul to get it all to the post office. (Okay, I’m exaggerating, but really, it’s a lot!)

So? What happened? The summary is, my personal life took over:

  1. My stepson moved in with us full-time and his room is in what used to be my shipping area! Don’t get me wrong… I love having him around and he’s a great kid/young man! But now, when I ship stuff, I have to venture into the room of an 18-year-old guy (aagh!), gather all the supplies from the condensed corner where it’s all stacked up, and do all the packaging somewhere else in the house.
  2. An unexpected construction project was thrust upon me right before my book launch! Yes, I did know that I’d eventually have this project to do, but since I’ve been trying to purchase the property for seven months, it was kind of unexpected when it suddenly closed within one week’s time in the beginning of April. I am now Construction Author!
  3. It is dance competition season with my fifteen-year-old daughter’s dance team! I love to attend these events, really I do! I enjoy watching my daughter and her friends dance, and I’m very proud of all she does. Even when the dances require getting up at 5:30am on a Sunday. Even when they involve traveling several hours and staying in a hotel all weekend. Yet not conducive to keeping up with my shipping!
  4. My youngest daughter turned twelve, has had her birthday party within the past few weeks, and has suddenly blossomed into a social butterfly. A social butterfly who needs to be supervised because she and her friends are twelve!
  5. My wonderful, supportive, fabulous husband who literally does half of everything (don’t hate me!) with the kids, house, family, and pets has been traveling on business a LOT. I’m talking Korea, Guam, Hawaii, and Washington DC, just within the past month, people!

Anyhow, enough is enough! I’ve provided all my reasons (um, excuses?) and am going to catch up on all my shipping right this very minute!

If you are one of the lovely people who was supposed to receive your prize weeks ago, I hope you’ll forgive me. I promise, I haven’t forgotten!

(Note to blog tour winners: I’m not behind on your stuff. Yet. LOL!)

Lots of Love!
