Kitchen Renovation: Part One

You may recall that I announced a while back that I was taking a break from writing. (That’s both true and not true: I haven’t released any more books, but I have been working on several new projects that won’t be published for a while.)

In the meanwhile, I’ve turned my attentions to renovations. More specifically, renovations of my own home, as well as following my dream of purchasing distressed properties, fixing them up, and renting them to nice tenants. (No, I am not a millionaire…when I say “distressed,” I mean it in the truest sense of the word.)

Most recently, my husband and I embarked on renovating our kitchen. Which turned into the entire downstairs. And part of the upstairs. Yes, I know, we’re a little nuts, but that’s all part of the fun, right? Oh, and did I mention?…We did almost all of the work ourselves!

This article is the kickoff to a series in which I’ll reveal the before and after photos, share some of the trials and tribulations, and talk about how it’s possible that we are not only still married but have actually grown closer to one another. I’ll also share some of the techniques used, tell you about some of the products, strategies, and more.

For now, here are just a few pictures to give you an idea of the scope of the project!

We added columns, both for support and as a decorative element.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the introduction and I’m excited to share our project with you! Stay tuned for the next portions of this Kitchen Renovation Series!
